midyear review 08

"I don't know what your destiny will be, but one thing I do know: the only ones among you who will be really happy are those who have sought and found how to serve. " - Albert Schweitzer

The Rotaractors from Rotary District 3780 Quezon City, Philippines delivered their club's status report on the annual Mid-Year Review. Held at the Rotary Center in Roces Avenue, Quezon City, 12 clubs from the district headed by their respective club presidents gamely reported their activities for the past six months. The event was witnessed by Service to New Generations Chair Joe Baradi, District Rotaract Chair Lumen Pestanas, and of course, District Rotaract Representative Boyet Calalay. Lead hosts for the said affair were the Rotaract Clubs of Centennial QC North and Sta. Mesa West.

RAC Eastwood started with the reporting. The club is a newly-formed one but they have shown that they are capable of handling projects and activities for their community. After five club presidents have reported, the group took a break and then resumed the reporting. All had their Power Point presentations to go along with their written reports.

The District Governor himself, Gov. Danny Fausto, graced the Mid-Rev and delivered the inspirational speech. He encouraged the current leaders and presidents to take away their personal spotlights away from themselves for the next six months and instead shine them on their successors. Now is the time, he said, to look forward and leave a lasting legacy to their respective clubs and to the district. The focus is on the future, and what a strong foundation each leader must leave for the stability and reliability of all Rotaract Clubs in the District.

Awards were then given to the best presentations, exhibits, and the best clubs for the first half of Rotary Year 2007-2008. Pres. Tet and RAC Timog turned out to be runaway winners for the awards.

*OT:
Everybody used Power Point for their slideshows but I decided instead to do my report in Windows Movie Maker. It took a while to sort out the photos that I wanted to post but after a marathon session, I finally had my shots. I used the music "Always With Me, Always With You" by Joe Satriani and "Volare" by the Gipsy Kings for the background music. Lighting inside the Rotary Center was never a problem since the ceiling was very low and the walls were just as bright as the ceiling. Bounce flash all the time and tried the wireless capabilities of the SB-600 to the fullest.
