mooncake festival

CC Owen lives up to his Chinese ways by hosting last Tuesday's Maharlika TMC meeting. He picked the theme "Mooncake Festival" in honor of the 8th month of the lunar calendar which happens to fall on September this time. He had plenty of trivia on the history and the many disguises of the mooncake and how it toppled a Chinese dynasty thousands of years ago.

There were a lot of first time role players for the meeting. TM Kai had her first crack at being the Table Topics Master. She made sure everyone's minds were working properly that evening since she dished out thought-provoking topics. Answering Kai's question on how a secret message could be passed without suspicion, Area Gov. Ed said that he prefers kissing a girl with the message hidden within the kiss. That way, he said, only the most trusted members of the opposite sex gets the message.

Some members and guests got lucky with the game that TME Owen devised. He adapted parts of the dice game for the mooncake festival for the evening's meeting. If he insisted on using the original rules, then the meeting could have gone way past midnight.

TM Peter also evaluated a prepared speech for the first time. He gave his take on TM Rodzon's second speech. There were three non-TM guests which, at the end of the meeting, became just two. One guest, Princeton, signed up for the club membership soon after the proceedings started. So for Princeton, welcome to the Maharlika family!

The Maharlikans couldn't help but stay with each other so after the meeting, they proceeded to Starbucks Otis for some more storytelling and coffee. It could have been another meeting as they had 11 members present!
