Second installment of District 3780’s celebration of World Rotaract Month and the recognizance of World Rotaract’s 40th Anniversary and this time, the district’s Rotaractors were brought this time to the Colegio de San Lorenzo Gym in Congressional Avenue for the annual Sports Fest. Lined-up were the physical games of basketball, volleyball, and badminton as well as mind games like Clue-Do, Scrabble, Uno, and Taboo.

The day started bright and early once again as the Rotaractors gathered on the 4th Floor Gym of CDSL. There were two courts available, one for basketball/volleyball, and the other for badminton and the board games, so the 70-odd participants were grouped and played their respective games simultaneously.

For the basketball game, the male Rotaractors were divided into teams A and B. District Rotaract Chair (DRC) Lumen Pestañas and District Rotaract Representative Boyet Calalay performed the ceremonial tip-off to begin the Sports Fest. The first game was a hotly contested match as Team B emerged as victors as DRR-elect Virgil Delos Santos served as the team’s cornerstone. Team A which included DRR Boyet and ADRR Robert Capistrano wasn’t to be outdone when they won the rematch. RAC Talipapa soon joined the action which brought the total number of teams to three. But everyone decided that since it was just a game for fun, everybody drew lots once again to determine which side they would be playing on. Again, DRR Boyet was on Team A while DRR-elect Virgil was on Team B. In the end, Team A proved they were the hungrier team when they defeated their rivals in the final game.

Concurrently, the badminton and board games were being played on the other court. Rotaractors who brought their own rackets smashed to their heart’s content in the three badminton courts available. (Please insert the winners of badminton and board games here).

Immediately after the basketball game, the net was put up in preparation of the volleyball game. The interested players formed their own teams, with the exception of the Rotaract Club of Batasan Hills – they had a line-up of their own. The combination of RAC Eastwood and Cubao wasn’t at par with the hitters of Batasan Hills and they were subsequently eliminated from the championship. But the mixture of RACs Timog and Paraiso, or affectionately known as “Paramog” won over Batasan Hills. With one win each under their belts, Paramog and BH squared-off in the finals. Everyone was on their feet and cheering for their respective club mates. When the smoke cleared after three sets, Paramog emerged as the victors and champions in the volleyball matchup.

The remaining Rotaractors posed for the group photo afterwards. Everyone enjoyed the playtime and the camaraderie with their fellow partners in service. Not only did they get the chance to flex their muscles, they also exercised their smiles throughout the fun-filled day.
