It was Maharlika's turn to host the event and folks from the area flocked to the Jade Vine restaurant for an evening of spooks, spirits, and speeches. Club President Mely Fernandez (Maharlika) served as the Toastmaster of the Evening.
The ball got rolling with a tongue-twister courtesy of President Mely. Immediately after, the educational portion started. The most outrageous and most unique costume was worn by the night's Table Topics Master Edwin Villanueva, ACB/ALB of the Maharlika Toastmasters Club. Edvil wore a "Mulawin" costume, to the delight of the participants. All four clubs had a representative for the Table Topics and Edvil's simple, yet thought-provoking questions tickled the minds of the speakers.
ACB Arthur Benedict King of UEC Toastmasters Club began the prepared speech portion. He tackled the Poetry Reading project of the Interpretive Reading manual for his advanced speech projects. Dr. Ben Anlacan of the Manila Bay Toastmasters Club soon followed for his prepared speech. Area Governor Ed Fabonan then made the room light up with his humorous speech as he illustrated how nice guys finish last.
DTM Gil Pasemanero of the Manila Bay Toastmasters Club played the role of General Evaluator. Yolly Meru of UP Manila Toastmasters Club was the chosen evaluator for the Table Topics. I evaluated Arthur's prepared speech while DTM Aida gave her thoughts on Dr. Ben's speech. DTM Pet Pasemanero then evaluated the speech of Area Gov Ed.
It was indeed a spooktacular activity and the members of Area 12 can't wait for next year. They're all eager to have another costume party and everyone's thinking of what they'll wear for the next Halloween!
