casino royale

Jade Vine turned into Casino Royale as Area Governor Ed chose the James Bond movie as his theme for the weekly meeting of the Maharlika Toastmasters Club. The room was just like a casino, complete with green table cloth with matching Pass and Do Not Pass lines, and there were playing cards everywhere. The center space became a blown-up craps table and it was just a slot machine short of a full-blown casino.

Area Gov Ed gave plenty of trivia about the movie and the book "Casino Royale" and he also showed how some of the games in the casino are played, like baccarat, craps, and even poker. The audience bet their gold coins on the games as Ed served as the casino host. Unfortunately, the house lost on all the games so it ended up losing its gold coins and gold bars to the players.

TM Bobby was the Table Topics Master for the first time. He chose four topics relevant to money, gambling, and its moral implications. Two Maharlikans, Des and Aida were called to participate. The two other participants were both guests, in the person of Ping Cruzada from the Bayanihan TMC and Alberto Vargas, visiting from Canada. Alberto showed the Maharlikans how the Toastmasters are trained in Canada as he spoke about looking at a person's inner beauty.

The lone prepared speaker was ACB Edvil who delivered another advanced speech. He talked about the many trials he has encountered in his life and how he was able to overcome his setbacks. ACB Mimi also delivered a speech for her ALB norm.

CC Peter was the General Evaluator for the fourth time this term. He had colorful nicknames for the Maharlikans, invoking several gangster names and other characters usually found in casino-inspired movies.
