coming of a new age

My return as Toastmaster of the Evening for the weekly meeting of the Maharlika Toastmasters Club last November 11, 2008. I chose the theme "Coming of a New Age" after visiting the former Marikina Shoe Expo in Cubao and discovering New Age themed bars and restaurants inside.

There were no prepared speakers so the members and guests just enjoyed the Table Topics portion as well as the Impromptu Speech contest for the Maharlika rookies. CC Peter served as the Table Topics Master. He gave out clues on several personalities and their respective predicaments. The participants are then asked to name the said personality and how they will resolve the predicament he/she is in.

CC Tina was the contest chair for the Impromptu Speech contest. Three rookies, Bobby, Emna, and Elsie gave their best and gave their point of view on the question given them. The judges felt that Bobby had the best opinion on the Mother Teresa's quote "If you judge a person, you don't have the time to love them" and was eventually declared the winner of the rookie impromptu contest. Bobby will represent the club in the annual Achiever's Toastmaster Club Rookie Contest on December 6.

ACS Tootz dela Torre was the General Evaluator once more. He made sure that his audience got plenty of laughs to take home.
